Checks CBC, organ test like kidney and liver, thyroid, and also checks for FIV and FELV. Doing yearly bloodwork gives us a baseline of normal values for the patient. It is a great way to detect other issues that they may not be symptomatic yet like kidney disease. If we catch diseases early, we can intervene and treat the patient sooner which can allow them to live longer healthier lives. The thyroid is important to check because it can be elevated; which requires treatment to stop over production of thyroid hormones. The overproduction of thyroid hormones can cause but is not limited to: weight loss, increased appetite, vomiting, heart disease, etc. FIV/ FELV are two different autoimmune diseases cats can get from other cats. Checking for these diseases will help us better treat the patient when he/her gets sick and help make recommendations to keep them healthy.
Checks cbc, organ test like kidney and liver, thyroid, and also checks heartworm and tick diareses. Doing yearly bloodwork gives us a baseline of normal values for them and is a great way to detect other issues that they may not be symptomatic yet like Kidney disease. If we catch diseases early on in the bloodwork, we can intervene and treat them sooner which can allow them to live longer healthier lives. Thyroid is important to check because in dogs it can be too low and they need treatment to increase the production of the thyroid hormone. The underproduction of this hormone can cause issues with weight gain, increased appetite, and hair loss just to name a few. It is fairly common and treated with medication. This checks for heartworms and three tick diseases (Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis). Heartworm and tick diseases have medical treatments available for the diseases.
